Yes. Creating, sealing, and revealing a promise is and always will be free, no matter how many times you use it. In the future there will be additional paid services to help you manage your promise history if you want, but this core feature you're looking at will never stop being free.
No. We don't ask for registration, a password, or any required data to create a promise. When you seal it, you get a unique private key - that key is your only way in, instead of a traditional account.
Your promise stays sealed forever, with no way to reveal it. Not even we can recover it for you - we don't store it in plain text, only an encrypted version that can check your key, not read it. That's why we show it to you only once when you create your promise: save it somewhere safe right then. If you gave an email when you created it, we already sent you a copy there at that moment - check that email. But we can't resend it later if you lose it, not even to that same email, because we never store it in a readable format.
If you type your private key wrong, you can try again with no limit - that's completely safe. But once you confirm the content to reveal (with the correct key), you only get one attempt. If it doesn't match exactly what you sealed, your promise gets marked "not authentic" permanently, with no retry. This is intentional: if we allowed multiple attempts, anyone could try different answers until finding the one that matches the hash, after already knowing the real result - that's exactly the kind of cheating this product exists to prevent. That's why we show you a review screen before confirming, so you can fix typos before it becomes final.
No. Before the reveal, the only public thing is a fingerprint (hash) - a string of characters that reveals nothing about your actual content. Not even we can know what you wrote until you decide to reveal it.
No, and that's on purpose. Once sealed, a promise is a permanent public record. That permanence is exactly what makes it trustworthy: no one, not even us, can make it disappear or change it afterward. If we could delete it, anyone could doubt that an unfavorable result was simply "removed." Before sealing something, think about whether you really want it to be public forever.
Verify Promise is a cryptographic verification tool, not legal advice. We don't guarantee it holds up as legal proof in your country or specific situation. If you need something with formal legal standing (for a contract or a dispute, for example), check with a lawyer on whether this is enough for your case.
Because the mechanism doesn't depend on trusting us - it depends on math anyone can verify on their own. Every public certificate includes instructions so anyone, using a free SHA-256 hash calculator (no coding needed, no need to trust our site), can check for themselves that the result matches. We also publish the technical specification of the mechanism openly so anyone can audit it.
It stays sealed indefinitely. There's no time limit or obligation to reveal it - you can do it whenever you want, or never.
